My favourite place from Poland

Student: Andreea VESA, Xth D grade; Coordinating teacher: Melania EGYED; School: “Samuil Vulcan” National College
The place that impressed me the most was Auschwitz. It is a really nice place to visit but I was impressed by the drama and torment endured by those people.
The entrance looks like a "regular" little green space and there are several buildings. After you have the chance to visit the place all round, the story becomes frightening. Each building has several rooms that have a specific name such as "Dead Road gas chamber”. The rooms where people lived were very frightening and crowded.
The bathrooms were just terrible. In the incinerators there were killed and destroyed about 1,200 people a day. Being there made me feel strange, I felt some shivers of dread because I couldn’t believe that 69 years before, at that exact place, innocent people had been killed in torments just because they belonged to other ethnicities or nationalities.
Auschwitz-Birkenau is not a very pleasant place to visit, but the stories of the past, the tortures and all the possible experiments that might have happened there attract many tourists every year.
