Several towns in Western Romania, are facing an invasion of thousands of ladybugs. The phenomenon is caused by high temperatures combined with the last humidity caused by summer rains.
Mircea Jichici, the mayor of Lipova, said that there have been similar invasions in spring and autumn, but that people never faced such a large number of ladybugs.
Ladybugs are often beneficial in communities, helping to protect crops by eating pests like greenflies.
Locals hope that the problem will be solved once the temperatures start dropping, but meanwhile, the local authorities will use insecticides to keep things under control.
From this publication, we would like to say that insecticides are always damaging for ladybugs and people's crops.
