Weronika Urbanik-Pek: A Galician speaker.

Strange as it may sound, it's a true fact. This woman, born in the Lesser Poland voivodeship, can speak a really good Galician to our surprise.

Being a young student of Spanish Philology, she found out there are some other languages in Spain too and she was atracted to Galician. Who knows why? Maybe it was because of the similarity of the region called Galicjia in Poland with our region in Spain or just because the language sounded nice to her.
After studying Galician for two years there, she came to Galicia and took the Celgas exams to show her level of competency. She was given an Erasmus grant which meant the possibility of improving her level of Galician so she spent some months here and did so.
Last Wednesday, 11th February, she came to our school to talk a little bit about her country so that our students could get information about Poland, where we're travelling at the end of May. It was interesting because she solved some of the students doubts but, at the same time, it was motivating. Now, they know that other people in the world can speak their language and this may change their minds towards the perception they have of it.
Enjoy Weronika's talk in the link below. (Some explanations in English are displayed on the clips)
