The blue pages

Sonia, Sara (students):
We belong to the generation that have grown up with computers. We set up the e-mail account when we were 9 years old, nevertheless none of us checks it on a daily basis. We sometimes use it to send a bigger attachment or a more formal mail.

Joanna, Anna (teachers):
In turn, we belong to the generation that was brought up without computers. New technologies were gradually appearing on the market later. We set up e-mail accounts as soon as we had the access to the Internet. We check it daily as it is an essential tool at our work (e.g. the project Erasmus), we use it to communicate and to deal with various matters both private and official.

Sonia, Sara:
We communicate via facebook every day, we set up the accounts there at the age of 12. All our classmates are on facebook, that is why we can day by day chat, ask about tests and homework  or just about the passing day. We share some bits and pieces relating to school. It happens that we contact with a friend we haven’t seen for a long time. We use facebook to communicate with people we have met in our project.

Joanna, Anna:
Most of the teachers at our school have got facebook accounts, but we don’t make use of it to deal with business matters, rather personal. We have observed  that we can easily find our students there. Therefore in our project beyond our international team on facebook we’ve got the second Polish one. If I’d like to inform my students about something I can traditionally put some information on a notice board at school, but I’m never sure then, whether the students have read it or not. When I write something on facebook I immediately see who has read it, and the feedback is really fast.

Sara, Sonia:
When you are on chat room, facebook is faster than e-mails. What is more we use shortcuts to communicate. On the other hand, some comments below the photos are harmful and inappropriate. It is even more surprising as the comments aren’t written by anonymous people but by students of our school.
Though, facebook is important part of our life we don’t know much about it. We have managed to find some interesting facts about facebook.

1.  A few people were murdered, for removing someone from friends list on facebook.
2.  Facebook trails what webpages you browse after logging out
3.  Everyday there are about 600 000 hacking attempts to facebook accounts
4.  Facebook has been blocked in China since 2009.
5.  Al Pacino was the first "face" on facebook
6.  It is impossible to block Mark Zuckerberg on facebook
7.  Facebook is mainly blue because Mark Zuckerberg doesn't see red and green colours
8.  On Facebook there are over 30 million people who are dead
9.  1/3 of all divorce filings last year included the word “Facebook”
10. “Like button” was originally going to be called the "Awesome button”.

We hope that above facts will change a bit our perspective and give us some distance to facebook when we log on it next time.
