A nightmare evening in Paris

By Ioana Barbura, Coordinating teacher: Tamara Motorga, School: Samuil Vulcan National College

All around the year, France has been suffering multiple terrorist attacks, causing damage and victims. The first important attack was in January at Charlie Hebdo newspaper. The second one was on 14th of November, claimed also by Islamistes due to the fact that France invaded Syria. Could this be the beginning of a new war? Should we be afraid even if we do not live in France? Maybe the answer for both of these questions is “yes”.

The jihadist group Islamic State is a menace to Europe, even more now when more and more people come from Syria and Iraq because of the living conditions in their countries. Among them, there are terrorists. As evidence, is what happened on the 14th of November when three co-ordinated “teams” appear to have been behind the last attacks. Then, deadly attacks by gunmen and suicide bombers hit the Stade de France stadium during the match.
Other terrorists opened fire on the terraces of the caffes and restaurants and others entered the concert hall Bataclan shouting “Allah Akbar” meaning “God is great”. One of the witnesses heard a gunman blaming President Holland for intervening in Syria. It was the first clear evidence that Paris was again being target by Islamists.
These terrorist groups are a menace to the entire world. We don’t know where the next attack will happen, so we must be prepared for anything. These groups are dangerous, they have their own rules and laws and they do not obey the rules and laws of the countries they live in.
In my opinion, even if their religion commands them to revenge the death of their men, they should not kill innocent people in the name of their religion, because each life is precious. People should value peace, because war creates more damage and affects people mentally, it brings diseases and economic disasters.
