The importance of the Erasmus project

In mars 2015 students from six different countries met up in Ferrol, Spain to discuss news and take part in cultural activities. One of the points of the journey was to get together and create connections between the different nationalities by learning about each other’s cultures, traditions and daily life.

We have interviewed two of the participating students and asked them about what they think the journey has contributed to.

-I think it’s really important to connect with people from different countries. When you meet new people you can be potentially introduced to new opportunities. It’s always good to have connections in other countries. It was also fun to spend time with them in Spain and I absolutely consider them as my new friends. Says Julia Airey, 16 from Sweden

The European Union is one of the financiers of the project and therefore only European countries take part in the project. The countries that contributed in the project were Sweden, Spain, Turkey, Poland, Romania and Italy. The first part of the project took part in Spain and later this spring students from each country will travel to Poland. The trips will continue until every country has been visited.

-This project has truly helped me to see that the countries are united by the European Union. Whatever happens in a fellow country has a great matter to all of the union's member countries, says Beata Franzén Aidell, 16 from Sweden.
