Nowadays more and more men take interest for their
facial hair. This uprising interest people have for beards have made scientists
curious about the topic. Therefore they are making a lot of researches on whether
it is good or bad for you.
The results of the researches on facial hair have gone
up and down throughout the years. Different scientists have always had
different views on the matter. In the late 19th century physicians
recommended having a beard to mask scars and illnesses. Back then, they
therefore thought it was good to be bearded.
The opinions about beard have changed more and more
the last couple of years. Instead of just thinking about the look that it gives
of, they now think more about the effects on your health. For example, last
year KOAT in Albuquerque did an examination where they found out that a beard
contains more bacteria than a toilet. People started questioning if this really
could be true and in that case if they would keep on growing it.
More research has been made and scientists are now
considering if we should embrace it or take it away. A recent study made by infectious
disease specialist Dr Chris van Tulleken shows that bacteria can be found in
beard hairs, but it does not certainly have to come from faeces. He along with
Dr Adam Roberts of UCL were surprised to know that clean shaved persons were
more than three times likely to have unwanted bugs on their faces. Latest studies
proves how good facial hair can be for your health. Some of the positive things
are: it keeps you warm, your skin stays moisturized, reduces asthma and allergy
symptoms, and it also protects you from the harming ultraviolent radiation.
According to historian Alun Withey the beard obsession
is something he predicts will come to an end this year. This is proven by
historical pattern from his data, but this has actually been predicted since
2014 in the UK. So, will the history of beardies come to an end now?
