Our
country, Romania has a multitude of mini-paradises. Besides its beautiful
scenery we are also proud of the performances and the talent of our Romanian
women in different areas: in the gymnastics we have Nadia Comaneci, who is the
winner of three Olympic gold medals at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal and
the first female gymnast to be awarded a perfect score of 10 in an Olympic
gymnastic event. She also won two gold medals at the 1980 Summer Olympics in
Moscow. She is one of the best-known gymnasts in the world. In 2000 Nadia was
named as one of the Athletes of the Century by the Laureus World Sports

Another
prominent figure in sports is the young tennis player Simona Halep who is
currently ranked world No. 3. Halep
first broke into the world's top 50 at the end of 2012, then into the top 20 in August 2013, and
then top 10 in January 2014 (after reaching the Australian Open quarterfinal).Both
Nadia Comaneci and Simona Halep are an opportunity
of pride for Romania.

In
the field of music we have Elena Alexandra Apostoleanu, professionally known as
Inna. She was the first European female
singer to surpass one billion total views on YouTube. Inna's debut studio
album, Hot, was an international
success, appearing in many record charts around the world, and particularly
popular in the United Kingdom where it reached number one. She has won numerous
awards, including two MTV Europe Music Awards and over thirteen awards in three
consecutive years at the MTV Romania Music Awards.
