HeForShe Campaign

By Amanda Schreiber & Frida Gerhardsson

Emma Watson has started a campaign for gender equality called HeForShe. She has also given a formal invitation to the men to participate. This is a big problem in the society of today and with this campaign she wants the world to take a step in the right direction for gender equality.

Emma started this campaign to work against the big inequalities of the society. This problem affects both women and men, maybe it´s worse for the women but when it comes to feelings for example the moral standards are that men should be strong, not cry and not show weakness. There are certain standard of how men and women should be in this society but Emma Watson wants to change that and make equal. In her speech, she said that: “Both men and women should feel free to be sensitive. Both men and women should feel free to be strong.” Feminism is not only for women, it´s also for the men”.
Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven has also taken part of this campaign by pointing out some goals for the representatives of the world to fight for.  These goals are mostly about the incomes for the women and a non-tolerance of violence against women.  He also thinks that the women should be able to take an equal part of the society by having the chance to get the same jobs for example.   Stefan Löfven got very inspired and impressed by Emma Watsons dedication to this project and the inequality.
In her speech she mentioned this “If not me, who, If not now, when “. With this she meant that now is the time to make a change and affect people to follow her way for an equal society.
To solve this problem we need more people, like Emma, who are ready to fight. You don´t have to be a celebrity to make a change, you only have to do your best and you can help in loads of ways. The only thing you have to do is stand up for who you are and your rights in the society, it´s as simple as that. We think that this is a good campaign because it´s current issue and we need to fight it together.
