Round people, “fried” by too much sun tanning,
who have kilograms of gold hanging on their necks and the name of their loved
one tattooed on their biceps... those are the people who know the price of
everything and the value of nothing. They are the „swaggers” of Romania.
Most
of them listen to „manele”, some kind of tribal assembly which, instead of
delighting the ears, disrupts them.
Romania is the country of all
possibilities and, luckily, more than 40 years ago, the first signs of rock and
metal started to show: Phoenix, Iris and Cargo. Now, Romania can show off with
a large list of bands of all subgenres of rock and metal, like: Prohod, An
Theos, Trooper, Buovina and Syn Ze Sase Zei (the most known bands from Romania,
which have tours inside and outside our country). This music genre is less
known in Romania because of the Mass Media that mostly sells foolishness
through stupid shows on the national channels. Rock and metal, although seen as
the most violent genres of music, are the most kind, sending to the public and
listeners a vast range of feelings, ideas and events from the singer's life.
The important Romanian fests have
always delighted the public's ears with Romanian and world-wide bands.
Festivals like: ARTmania, Romanian Thrash Metal Fest, Metalhead Meeting,
November to Dismember Metal Fest, Rock'n'Iasi, Sumerwell and Rockstadt Extreme
Fest are loved by people from our country and people from Europe and
world-wide. Important concerts are also organized in Romania. For example, the
16th of February, Eluveitie (Swiss folk metal band) will promote their new
album in Bucharest at “Arenele Romane”. Also Black Label Society, Behemoth,
Cannibal Corpse, Godsmack and Sabaton will have concerts in Romania this year.
Rockstadt is the most brutal fest on
our country's territory. Last year, it went so well that the Romanian public,
which usually discusses upon every topic, was left speechless. It all started
with “The Romanian band’s Wednesday”, continued with “Craziness beginning's
Thursday” and “Chaos's Friday” and ended with “The Saturday of The
Crowd-Surfing”. Four great days! A perfect show. Rockstadt was praised by the
audience and also by some great bands like TARG3T.
Finally, making balance, we can see
that Romania is quite active when it comes about metal and rock music and all
their subgenres. For some Romanian bands and songs, you can click on the links
