Romanian invention: robots which save lives in conflict zones

Romanians have many qualities including ingenuity. Maybe not many people know, but over time they had a lot of brilliant ideas that changed the word. One of the newest is at Land Forces Academy in Sibiu. It is about some robots which would be very helpful in various missions for soldiers, would make their job easier, even save their life. These robots are able to detect and destroy the explosives. One of the two finds the potential explosive; the other takes it and brings it to the demining area, where an explosion occurs to form the displacement lane.

The machines have a low energy consumption and they can be loaded from the sun, therefore they cost less than other similar robots. Their price is about 25000-30000 €, which is half of how much it would normally cost such robots.

Danut Mosteanu, the director of Technical Sciences department, believes that these technologies would be a beneficial novelty in the field and it would be better to start using them.

Using funds from The Ministry of Defence it could be built more such robots which might prevent other dangerous situations for the military. In the interview, the colonel also stated that he wants to develop these technologies in other areas, too. It would be desirable to be able to detect chemical warfare, radiation levels and could enter the contaminated areas.

Certainly it will not take long until this kind of robots are produced because we have a lot of able people in the country on whom we can count. The best examples are the teachers and the students from Land Forces Academy in Sibiu, who were subsequently employed in the Army. They worked, they persevered and didn’t give up on their dreams. After four years, they have managed to finalize the robots which have become a very successful and important invention in the fight against terrorism, being able to save the people`s life.
